Remember that ME2 vs AC2 discussion?
Assassin's Creed 2 for the PC has a bonus "feature" such that you must have an internet connection at all times to play it. In fact, if at any
point while playing the game you lose said connection, you are instantly booted from the game and all unsaved progress is lost.
Well, and try to contain your surprise at this statement, Ubisoft's
servers went down, so no one who bought the game legit was able to play all day.
I had a good time at work today reading the rage at the official Ubisoft forums on this issue. Link.

I heard that it has a ton of DRM attached to the game and it was cracked with in 24 hours of the game being released. I also heard that the cracked
verson was better anyway

It usually is.
I wouldn't doubt Ubisoft takes one of the illicit cracks, modifies it, and releases it to relieve these issues

Well, supposedly Ubisoft has promised to path the DRM out if they ever take their servers offline sometime in the future (the same promise Valve has
made about Steam games if they ever go under). It sems to me though that if the devs can patch it out, so can the pirates.

It's an uphill battle for them.
Their best bet really is to hold a product in the customer's best intentions. I know that games that don't even charge for you to download them, but
pay for them if you like to, have great success in sales and continuity.
You as a customer hate being seen as guilty until provent innocent, don't you?
It's a different time, a new trend will have to pick up and I'm sure the profits will follow. It's not like games aren't making money these days,
look at MW2.

If you go back and look at the linked forum page again, they deleted all but the first complaint and the thread is closed. Problem solving FTW!
